How to Care for Performance Golf Apparel So It Lasts Seasons
August 6, 2026
Performance knits fail from heat and softener, not from wear. Five habits that keep pastels bright, hems crisp and stretch intact for years.

Performance fabrics are more durable than cotton and far less forgiving of the wrong laundry habits. Almost every ruined golf top we have seen was ruined by heat or fabric softener.
The five habits
- Wash cold, inside out, on a gentle cycle. Warm water is what fades pastels.
- Skip fabric softener entirely — it coats the fibers and kills moisture wicking.
- Hang dry. A hot dryer is what relaxes stretch and warps a pleated hem.
- Wash pastels with pastels; gold hardware and dark colors both transfer.
- Zip and fasten everything before it goes in, so nothing snags a knit.
Sunscreen and grass
Treat sunscreen marks and grass stains the same day with a small amount of gentle detergent worked in by hand, then wash cold. Heat sets both permanently, so never press a stained garment.
Storing between seasons
Fold knits rather than hanging them so the shoulders keep their shape, store shoes with the trees or paper they arrived with, and keep leather goods out of direct sun. Our gift boxes are sturdy enough to store accessories in — that is deliberate.
Shoes and leather
Wipe white leather after every round with a damp cloth, let it dry away from heat, and alternate pairs when you play back-to-back days. Damp shoes crease, and creases are permanent.
